A literally short love story : Short Story in English

“Baby I am addicted, I am out of control”

Enrique was in his fullest in this song. I love his songs, taking the last sip of the mocktail I blabbered to my friends. All of them were quiet tight and of course they are in a state to accept anything. I smiled to myself. The blue ambience of the sports bar seems to be quiet magnetic.

“Hey it’s time to go. Guys you are forgetting the fact that you guys got a home and you need to reach there”. It was a treat from my friend who completed 5 years in my company. Great, they seems to have realised the fact that they need to travel back home. I got up and walked towards my car.

“Where the hell did I parked it?” The buzzer is not working for quite some time. Finally I got the parking spot. When I was about to step into the car I saw a purse lying down. Is that a plot?? Boy, don’t you dare to look into that. I imagined a group of cameras covering me saying I was made a fool or It might also be a attention diverter. Anyways I took it and I found few cards, a driving license and a PAN card.

Reshma Sharma, luckily her phone number was there in the visiting card. Should I call her? Common you should call her. How long you will stay single after a breakup. But this is tricky; she seems to be working in Hyderabad. But why am I thinking about a relationship with a strange girl. I think all bachelor guys like me who am single would feel the same. They will always visualize any pretty girl to be a girlfriend. Okie what now, are you going to call her. May be she might be around, I took the phone and called the number.

“Reshma Here”

“Hi, I am Jino. I got your purse, it has some cards, your DL and PAN card”

“Thank God, Thanks a lot for calling. I came there for a marriage. I got back into the train. Will it be possible to send it as a courier?

“Ok, I will do that”

While driving back I realised that I was mourning like a huge tragedy happened in my life. This was a good change. Next day I mailed her all the details including the courier docket number.  Within seconds I got a chat invite in my Gtalk. I accepted it and next second I got a hello from her. We continued our chatting for days. She was really interesting and my days started running very fast. I was flying in cloud nine. I think I should propose her before I need to see her how she look. The photo in her PAN card was not visible much.

“Hi” I pinged her. “Are you in facebook?”

“Yes, give me your ID”

I replied,” Search Jino Manjil”

“Yes, I see you here and I have added you as my friend”

I logged in to my facebook. She is pretty. Our calls continued till night. We had topics from software to sex. Soon our topics died and we started arguing for every silly reason and one fine day I got a text from her

“I am not interested in this relationship”. I wondered, but I knew it would end like this.

“Can I call you”. I didn’t get any response for her. I pinged her in Gtalk.

It replied  “The person you pinged is offline and can't receive messages right now”

Story of a Dosa - Kids Short Story in Englsih

Long long ago there lived a grandmother. She gets rice, black gram, soak it in water and grind it using a huge manual grinder and make my dough. But this story is about me in 2011 and by the way, the way I think and this crazy writer thinks is entirely different. So read it with all your patience.

I was lying down in a freezer of the medium large supply chain market. I was left idle and lonely. All my friends were taken away by other people. Several hands came towards us, black, white, brown, pale… I was expecting someone to pick me up. Sad no one took me. Finally one young lady with a long dress ( I heard them calling it as churdhar) picked me up. I was feeling little warm since she picked me out of freezer.

Sad, What is she doing? She dropped few bread packets, some green color packets and a chocolate packet. Chocolate packet made my mouth wet, but I was the first one to be put inside the trolley, else I would have tried my luck with the chocolate. She pushed me to a guy who was standing near a tv like machine. He pulled me out and passed me through a red ray of light which gave out a horrible beep and they shoved me into a nasty plastic bag. I saw this writer there for the first time, he was staring at this beautiful woman who took me while giving her his card. The guy swiped the card on to another small machine and gave him back a paper. He wrote something on it and gave it back.

Then they took me into a house and put me into a huge box which made me again cool. Next day morning the same woman took me out. She cut one end of my cloth and poured me into a small vessel. She added some water to me and some salt. She switched on a something which made itself to burn. I could see flames coming out of it. She put another vessel on top of it and applied some liquid on it. It seems like an oil and later she took me with the vessel, mixed me well and poured a little of me inside the another vessel which she kept on top of the flame.

I was scared, it was very hot. The oil on top of it was boiling, I was not able to bear the heat. I cried, I cried with a maximum voice “shhh shhh shhh”. But no use, I realised that a part of me was changing to solid, I was transforming. She made me into a round shape and seconds later I became a solid round figure. She took a utensil and inserted it beneath me and without disturbing me much she took me out. I think she was afraid that I may get broken. She was caring enough to do it. I felt happy, but not a second later she put me again to the flame upside down. This time I didn’t had enough energy to weep. I again produced little noise, but it was not coming out. My weep went with the noise of the fan above me which was also giving her some light. She put me into a vessel which kept me hot. She made many other brothers of me and put them with me. She called someone, “Dosa is ready, it is kept in the caserol”

Someone opened the lid and I saw the same person who was with that woman. He took me out put me into a plate. He added some slight red color liquid into me. My eyes burned but I couldn’t make any noise. He tore me mercilessly and broke me into pieces he mixed me with that liquid and some powder and took me into his hand. I tried my best escape, but in vain he lifted his hand, I knew it was my end. I tried crying but I lost all my energy, I was broken. He took me near his mouth and put me inside it and grinded me a swallowed me. I went into a dark passage grinded and crushed..deep deep into it.

This my story, if you like this please send an SMS to DOSA to 58888. This will help me to go to second phase of growth egg dosa. With your support I can be coconut dosa, onion dosa, uthappa, ghee dosa and finally family paper ghee roast. I am expecting your support, please take your mobile phone and send the sms now.

Question and answer : Short story in Malayalam

Story I told my wife

My wife was not feeling well and she was literally on tears last night. I tried consoling her but in vain. I used to sing songs for her late in the evening (ofcourse in my bad voice). I tried singing a lullaby to her but nothing seemed to work, and eventually I tried to handle things in the age old way, decided to tell her a story. Well, I thought of sharing this with you, this story doesn't bear any copyright. You are free to make a version change... but ofcourse both the teller and the listener should have a child in his/her heart. Others please dont continue reading this.

Long long ago there lived a King and a Queen. Their country was cherished with prosperity and all countrymen were happy. There were no riots, no bribe and always they lived in unity. They considered each fellowbeing as their brothers/ sisters. The fame of the king crossed borders and the news even reached to his enemies. They were all jealous of the prosperity of the country and were waiting for a chance to attack them to bring an end to their merriness.

Though King and Queen were really happy, they had a worry. They didn’t have children. They performed Yaaga’s and Puja’s to God to make them happy but nothing helped. One day a Saadu (Saint) visited their kingdom. He told the couple to conduct a Puthra Yaagam (Pooja for a Kid) in the coming full moon day. He also told them that the King and the Queen should go deep inside the forest to a hillock and the Yaaga should be done there. He also told them that this yaaga should be performed alone and no one should accompany them. Couple got the blessing from the Saadhu and decided to perform the Yaaga.

On the full moon day, King and Queen went to the hillock and performed the Yaaga. It was a dense forest and they were all alone there and their will power made God to appear in front of them and asked for a boon. He asked the couple to make a decision, if they want a foolish beautiful princess or a brilliant ugly princess. The King and his queen were in dilemma but the queen decided to get a princess who looked like an angel but not brilliant. She thought she can always bring intelligence to the kid by proper training. God granted the boon and disappeared

Queen gave birth to an angel and the people in the kingdom celebrated the day cheerfully. Days went on, the child behaved in a  strange manner and expressed no sign of intelligence. They brought teachers from far regions, doctors, physicians but nothing helped. Finally they realized their mistake. King and queen decided to perform the Yaaga and decided to pray to God. God finally appeared in front of them. They apologised for their mistake and prayed to God to give the child a little intelligence. God said that he was helpless; he cannot do anything since the decision is taken and destiny of the kid was written long back. It will be against the law of nature if he changes it. King and Queen started pleading and finally God decided to help them.

He said that he is not a position to help them as far as the kid is concerned but he asked them to find a prince for her who is smart, intelligent and at any point of time she can rely on him to take decision. He also said that they were lucky because he moulded a prince with extreme brilliance and smartness. King and queen were eager to know about his name and the God said his name is

“Dhanesh” (Comon Guys don’t ask who this guy is ;-) )

My wife burst into laughter hearing the story. (I know, not very funny but she doesn’t have an option you know). I was happy that I could bring her out of pain for at least a moment.

SEDLC – Software Engineer Development Life Cycle : Not too short story

Stat warning: All the characters in this story may resemble you, your manager or team lead. I don’t take any responsibility if your appraisal goes down if your manager read this thinking you might have told this to me. And well well, don’t think it is my story because I have posted all my stories related to my job hunt in “Yaadein Series”

Long long ago they invented a device called Computer, later it was asked to calculate sum of two numbers to a long lasting list including weather predictions to your girlfriend’s compatibility. Finding this interesting, different genre of people from Multi National Company CEO to my neighbour Paramu who owns a tea stall decided to purchase one for calculating their revenues to automating their production. Though Padmini, wife of Paramu keeps complaining that the intention of Mr Pappu is different, being their family matter I didn’t get involved in it.

Starting from Pappu who uses all latest pirated software to Bris Kaynes, Chairman of ABCDEF Corporation who uses all original ones, there started a huge requirements of software engineers who joined companies which produced those software’s. It was by then, land which was costing Rs. 100 shoot up to Rs. 100000 and common man living was made impossible.

Mr Lambo was from a mediocre family who had all these dreams to carry a heavy mobile in right hand with a laptop bag in left passed out from an engineering college. He declared himself as a software engineer and being in a lucky batch he didn’t get a campus placement. He fought in several walk-in interviews, ate as less as possible to save his pocket money, walked in sunny days sweating and bumping in crowded public transport and finally that day came which he got an offer from InPhysics Inc, an MNC based on US. Friends at home who were searching for job were not happy at all with the incident but as a compensation of this tragic incident they asked for a treat, and by this act they thought they can show at least 50% of their enmity towards Lambo. Hearing the word treat (1- 10 easy ways to identify a software engineer) he rose up. By stretching forward as to get blessing from the offer letter he took that and placed it safe in the suitcase.

On the way to home, it was a tragic session for all his friends Tommy,Jimmy and Sony. Lambo explained how big company is, how he got into the job and also few tips and advices on how to crack an interview. Jimmy who was little curious, started taking notes for future reference which made Lambo more enthusiastic and continued with his lecture. “Luck God” started showering pebbles on the way of Tommy and Sony but not for a long time, they spotted a restaurant. Convincing Lambo not to start with the great story of how he impressed the HR Aunty during the interview, they walked in.

As expected, Lambo took out his mobile (2 – 10 ways) and displayed it to the people around and kept it in the table. It was just a few minutes delay, the software engineer sleeping inside him woke up and started shouting (3-10 ways) at the waiter who delayed to start the service to them. Waiter still doesn’t seem to be bothered (As if he had seen enough) asked a sorry and made Mr. Lambo to sit and relax. Lambo started ordering everything and finally he got what he was scared off. Ofcourse the bill, He took his credit card which his father gave (4-10 ways) him and made the payment and also he gave tips of 10 great bucks. The waiter wants to return it back, but considering the importance of ten rupees in his pan and cigar life, he slides it inside his pocket.

Okie, Till now you have read How Lambo became a software engineer. But our objective here is to discuss about SEDLC (Well you might have heard of SDLC… stop visualing Agile, Waterfall and crap you are not working now).                                                                                                                              (..contd)

Walking Miles Alone - Short Story

“I know you hate me”

“This is not fair Grace; I have been telling you that I need to go”

Grace was in no mood to leave Michael that easy. It became their regular routine to fight for no reason and this seems to be a new one.

Michael and Grace met each other in Siesta, Florida seven years before. They started dating till they got married last October. Love became a routine of their life, not priority and of course small issues crept in which weeded around their relationship. Surprises were never ending when their love was blooming but not anymore. To add to it, Michael lost his job due to the great recession.

“We were never compatible; I really don’t know how we got married in spite of all these indifferences” Michael woke up from his thoughts by this statement by Grace.

“Let me tell you Grace, it is impossible for me to prove how much I love you, it is really not an experiment to do a test on it and declare the result. I need to go to New York, I am sure that I can find a job soon”

“I know you are running away from me, you want to be alone, don’t you, Michael?”

“Ah..! Wish you could take me in right sense ever” Michael is busy in packing.

Grace was almost to burst, “So you stick to your decision to move to New York, You don’t bother about me anymore. Don’t you think we could find another job staying here itself” Tears rolled down her cheeks.

“Is this a breakup, make it clear Michael? Please let me know if you want me to move away. I will never be an obstacle in your way”

“Yes… it is!! How do I explain you more, I don’t want my life to be burned in the ashes of our conflicts? Let’s move on Grace. I am sure you got a bright future ahead”

“So do you Michael, I think you don’t have to bother about it. I thought you were bothered about the job. If this was your intention I would have never come on your way. Carry on” Grace walked into the room. She closed the door as if to show her anger on it.

After a while she came out,“Wait, why do you go to New York? It’s your home; rather I need to go out”.

“Grace, you are testing my patience, I leave that to you to decide whether to stay here or not. It’s my wish to leave this place. It was my dream to get this apartment, but your contribution was never less for me, it helped me a lot”.

“Don’t you show your kindness to me? I will consider it lost. Anyway I need to start a new journey and it should not begin with our old memories” exclaimed Grace.

Michael’s phone rang, “Hello Michael, your pickup is waiting outside” It was the driver of Airport pickup he booked late night.

“I will be there in a minute. Good bye Grace, your memories will haunt me where ever I go, just want to tell you something before I go

I Love you, I wish I could change my destiny but your future is bright”

“Stop this, please carry on” Grace was about to walk off.

“Please Grace, give me a minute, may be that I will never get a chance to meet you again. Just listen to me once, do you remember the way I proposed you, I knew I was crazy but I couldn’t stop doing that because it was important for me to prove my love. After marriage, I thought we were one, I never felt it’s important to prove my love, I never felt it would be necessary to gift you to let you know that I love you. I thought when I let you rest your head on my chest, holding you in my heart will make you feel the warmth of my love. That turned out to be a fiasco; I should let you leave your way. I am scared to be alone but now I understand the need of freeing you.” He was shivering all the while he spoke.

“Michael, please let’s talk, come in, don’t go...” said Grace.

Michael phone again rang, “Sorry Grace, I need to go, I will miss you for sure but I don’t love you anymore. I wish to be alone than being with you”

“Don’t be so harsh in your words, I will pray for your well being” Grace felt as if she is losing her sense.

Years after…

“George, Come here. You are becoming naughty. Why did you pull out all these documents? See how much I am struggling to put it back”, Grace shouted at the top of her voice

“Sorry, Mom I was looking for a school project” George seems to be immersed in the laptop.

“Mom, when is Dad coming back?”

“I am not sure honey; I think he will be back soon. You know he is busy with his clients in New York”

“Wow, I need to ask him to get me an iPad this time. All my friends own a tablet by now”

Grace seems to have ignored his wish. She didn’t respond to his request. She knew that his father will get him anything he needs.

“Look at this! I need to spend an hour at least to put this back in place.” Grace was furious this time. George realized his mom is losing her temper and so he sheepishly scooted out of the room .

“Mom, I need to catch up with my friends to know their progress in the project, see you in an hour”

“Take care; Watch while you are on road, honey”. She knew it was his trick to escape.

Accidently her eyes locked in the Mayo Clinic Records. Mayo Clinic in Rochester is considered to be one of the top ten hospitals for Cancer Care in United States.

She took the documents out,

Patient Record, Name: Michael Schenezer , Age: 30. Disease: Glioblastoma multiforme, the deadliest brain tumor. Even the most aggressive treatment could save the victim only to the maximum of 12 months from death. Grace was about to fall, she took support of the table. She took all the documents out; it had a small note written

“By the time you find this I would be dead because my doctors said I had only a week left, I just want you to know that I love you Grace, more than anything in this world” – Michael.

When they stopped for me : short story

I walked across that busy road in the dim light. Heard the screeching sound of a car that braked near me. I never bothered to listen what it was. My eyes were filled up and were waiting to flow as a dam waiting to overflow after a violent storm. I walked straight down the road, felt deprived. Her words were roaring in my ears.

Months back I met her in the busy railway station waiting for my train to Patna. Two days in train, I felt drowsy just by thinking about it. I should have opted for a flight instead, cursing my luck of not getting flight tickets I stood in the corner. Accidentally I noticed a girl, she was not very beautiful. But she had a charm in her face, many call it a blush, she seemed involved in the book she had. I was busy thinking about the train, travel and involved in the gadgets I had.
Minutes passed by, and the train arrived and as usual I rushed to the compartment dragging my luggage. I saw her sitting opposite to me again engrossed in her book.

I love to draw landscapes. I take pictures in my memory and draw it to make my travel less boring. She seemed curious in my work and gave a glance to it. I felt amused, posed as if I don’t care what she is looking for and involved in my activities.

“That’s nice”
I looked at her, with the same feeling as if I have heard enough compliment and not letting my ego down, I replied to her

“Thanks”.
Our friendship started like that. I reached back to Bangalore from my home town. I told my friends who stay with me about the girl I met in the train. I drew pictures and mailed it to her id. She complimented me for everything I did, which boosted my confidence. I started drawing pictures and send it to various magazines I knew. My evenings where never lonely, I used to chat with her for hours. All my friends who are working as software engineers come home late at night. I had nothing to do at home, than to wait for her calls. I hate busy tones when I called her. She had a lot of friends, more guys than girls. I always had that in my mind that I should never fall in love with her. She talks about her friends who drop her late night, took her to movies, feast at friends house and even friends who call her inebriated.

I started meeting her some times. We use to walk in the shades of serene trees holding her hand. One day I took my courage and held her hands in my palms and gently kissed her. I expected a blushed or a nervous girl but in turn she laughed at me with an expression of compassion.

Days later, after a beautiful day she told me that she was in love with some one. I expected this, but never thought she will hide that from me. I stopped meeting her, I felt disturbed to see her messages and mails. Though our relationship continued, her feeling towards me changed. She often asked me if I know that I am not the only one she needs to be bothered. These questions crept into my heart like poisonous arrow.

One day I decided to meet her, in the way back home after an important discussion with my client in town. I felt very happy to meet her after a long time. She expressed her desire to come with me until the place I would get a bus. While dreaming about the wonderful moments I would spend with her, her phone rang. She picked up the phone and confirmed the other person on the other end that she would reach there in five minutes. My eyes filled up, I cursed the moment which I decided to meet her.

“Auto”???
I looked back and was literally shocked to realize that I crossed that busy road with out even knowing what was happening around. I got into the autorickshaw and told him the place to drop, wishing never in life to meet her again.

Crux of the story is based on real story of my friend

What ever I thought in five minutes: Short story

I was wandering lonely in that park. Every thing moved from my views, in a matter seconds. I never realized I will be alone, I wish the earth beneath is vanished and I being pulled off to hell. Deep inside my memoirs, I cry like a child as if I am starving for a loaf of bread. I don’t have confidence. Oh..! I forgot one thing. I didn’t call my friend. He was happy that he is getting a new bike then. Is that what important for me now? Oh God. Before I get into next part of sentiments… I should get my courage back. I need to drive back to my home. It’s again the same days. My life won’t have you anymore. I will have to walk alone in the lonely woods, from now on.

I felt cuckoo is the best singer I ever heard, never again it seems. All I wonder is about your thoughts, about our dreams and about our worries. Life seems empty inside, with out you. I know, I need to bear that from now on. I wish you a cheerful life. I have never brought happiness to you. I was never a good companion for you. Good that we move in two different ways believing that these roads will never meet. I don’t have that health to start my bike. I started moving ahead in the way I choose. Never ending journey..

[Angu Doore]

Malayalam:

In the way of life

This post is retained due to Jabir's Request .. Thanx a lot..

For You

I can see drop of tears dangling on her eyes. I know that she loves me. But sometimes we loose ourselves? Even this was the same. I remember, I expected her presense in my lonely nights. I spend whole night talking to her. Her sorrows were of mine and those of mine was her too. When i hear those old songs we sung, your face was burning inside me.

She expected me to call her back. I always thought of retaining your smile. My sorrows are always burried in me. When u left , I was standing there as lost man expecting you to turn back to me once....
