Decided in a Day: Trip to Ooty

I and my friend Anand were thinking of a small trip to somewhere near Bangalore. Well, options kept switching between Kudagu, Mysore and at least Bannargatta . We had around three days of leave and finally we decided to go to Ooty. You will find a lot of travelogues about Ooty, so in this post I am not going to describe about Ooty as tourist place as such, as my previous post I will describe about the fun we had.

26th September: Morning I got a call from Anand, His wife was coming in Bangalore Train. He need to get a clear cut idea about my plan (in short if we were going or not). Since my kollulla doesn’t give ileage we decided to go in Anands car. I dropped Ammu in her college and left Kollula in Hosur. Once Ammu’s classes were over (Poor students, I think she didn’t took classes that day) my Dad in law dropped me there (E City) and we went back home in a Volvo. By the time we reached there it was around 3.30. In another 10 minutes Anand and his wife came home. They thought we will drop the plan, but some we started by 4.30 PM. We decided to go to Mysore since the palace is expected to light up. Unfortunately by the time we reached Mysore it was already 9.15. After a couple of rounds there we went decided to halt somewhere in between Mysore and Bandipur. Finally we found a hotel (not too Bad) in Nanjancode

27th September: We started from Nanjangudu at around 7.30 AM. Road was not bad till we reached Gundelpet. From Gundelpet to Bandipur road was dug up as they were making a new highway. Bandipur was really amazing and awesome gift of nature. From there we reached Mudumalai which was equally peacefull and from Mudumalai we took a left (shortcut to Ooty) and after 43 hair pins there we are, in ooty. Anand is an expert driver; it was interesting to watch him taking steep and dangerous curves with ease. You could even choose the road through Gudalur which is very good and less dangerous curves.
We checked in Hotel Lakeview, very nice hotel and really affordable. Rooms were independent cottages and very nice. After having lunch we went to the lake and went for boating in pedal boat. It was fun pedaling and while returning our ladies were eager to pedal. We happily handed over the control to them. I could see them cursing for the choice. After we just roamed around in the park, travelled in a toy train and we went back to hotel.

27th September: We went to Doddabetta, which was very crowded. I didn’t like the place and there was hardly any time left to visit the botanical garden. All of us have gone there before, so we returned to hotel and checked out. While returning back we choose to travel by Gudalur highway and were really less risky. We reached mysore by 6.30 PM. Took some snaps of the Palace and finally reached home. Our way to Hebbal got messed up as we entered in some wrong road, but we reached home at around 11.30 PM. Trip was really fun and exciting..
