SEDLC – Software Engineer Development Life Cycle : Not too short story

Stat warning: All the characters in this story may resemble you, your manager or team lead. I don’t take any responsibility if your appraisal goes down if your manager read this thinking you might have told this to me. And well well, don’t think it is my story because I have posted all my stories related to my job hunt in “Yaadein Series”

Long long ago they invented a device called Computer, later it was asked to calculate sum of two numbers to a long lasting list including weather predictions to your girlfriend’s compatibility. Finding this interesting, different genre of people from Multi National Company CEO to my neighbour Paramu who owns a tea stall decided to purchase one for calculating their revenues to automating their production. Though Padmini, wife of Paramu keeps complaining that the intention of Mr Pappu is different, being their family matter I didn’t get involved in it.

Starting from Pappu who uses all latest pirated software to Bris Kaynes, Chairman of ABCDEF Corporation who uses all original ones, there started a huge requirements of software engineers who joined companies which produced those software’s. It was by then, land which was costing Rs. 100 shoot up to Rs. 100000 and common man living was made impossible.

Mr Lambo was from a mediocre family who had all these dreams to carry a heavy mobile in right hand with a laptop bag in left passed out from an engineering college. He declared himself as a software engineer and being in a lucky batch he didn’t get a campus placement. He fought in several walk-in interviews, ate as less as possible to save his pocket money, walked in sunny days sweating and bumping in crowded public transport and finally that day came which he got an offer from InPhysics Inc, an MNC based on US. Friends at home who were searching for job were not happy at all with the incident but as a compensation of this tragic incident they asked for a treat, and by this act they thought they can show at least 50% of their enmity towards Lambo. Hearing the word treat (1- 10 easy ways to identify a software engineer) he rose up. By stretching forward as to get blessing from the offer letter he took that and placed it safe in the suitcase.

On the way to home, it was a tragic session for all his friends Tommy,Jimmy and Sony. Lambo explained how big company is, how he got into the job and also few tips and advices on how to crack an interview. Jimmy who was little curious, started taking notes for future reference which made Lambo more enthusiastic and continued with his lecture. “Luck God” started showering pebbles on the way of Tommy and Sony but not for a long time, they spotted a restaurant. Convincing Lambo not to start with the great story of how he impressed the HR Aunty during the interview, they walked in.

As expected, Lambo took out his mobile (2 – 10 ways) and displayed it to the people around and kept it in the table. It was just a few minutes delay, the software engineer sleeping inside him woke up and started shouting (3-10 ways) at the waiter who delayed to start the service to them. Waiter still doesn’t seem to be bothered (As if he had seen enough) asked a sorry and made Mr. Lambo to sit and relax. Lambo started ordering everything and finally he got what he was scared off. Ofcourse the bill, He took his credit card which his father gave (4-10 ways) him and made the payment and also he gave tips of 10 great bucks. The waiter wants to return it back, but considering the importance of ten rupees in his pan and cigar life, he slides it inside his pocket.

Okie, Till now you have read How Lambo became a software engineer. But our objective here is to discuss about SEDLC (Well you might have heard of SDLC… stop visualing Agile, Waterfall and crap you are not working now).                                                                                                                              (..contd)
