Story I told my wife

My wife was not feeling well and she was literally on tears last night. I tried consoling her but in vain. I used to sing songs for her late in the evening (ofcourse in my bad voice). I tried singing a lullaby to her but nothing seemed to work, and eventually I tried to handle things in the age old way, decided to tell her a story. Well, I thought of sharing this with you, this story doesn't bear any copyright. You are free to make a version change... but ofcourse both the teller and the listener should have a child in his/her heart. Others please dont continue reading this.

Long long ago there lived a King and a Queen. Their country was cherished with prosperity and all countrymen were happy. There were no riots, no bribe and always they lived in unity. They considered each fellowbeing as their brothers/ sisters. The fame of the king crossed borders and the news even reached to his enemies. They were all jealous of the prosperity of the country and were waiting for a chance to attack them to bring an end to their merriness.

Though King and Queen were really happy, they had a worry. They didn’t have children. They performed Yaaga’s and Puja’s to God to make them happy but nothing helped. One day a Saadu (Saint) visited their kingdom. He told the couple to conduct a Puthra Yaagam (Pooja for a Kid) in the coming full moon day. He also told them that the King and the Queen should go deep inside the forest to a hillock and the Yaaga should be done there. He also told them that this yaaga should be performed alone and no one should accompany them. Couple got the blessing from the Saadhu and decided to perform the Yaaga.

On the full moon day, King and Queen went to the hillock and performed the Yaaga. It was a dense forest and they were all alone there and their will power made God to appear in front of them and asked for a boon. He asked the couple to make a decision, if they want a foolish beautiful princess or a brilliant ugly princess. The King and his queen were in dilemma but the queen decided to get a princess who looked like an angel but not brilliant. She thought she can always bring intelligence to the kid by proper training. God granted the boon and disappeared

Queen gave birth to an angel and the people in the kingdom celebrated the day cheerfully. Days went on, the child behaved in a  strange manner and expressed no sign of intelligence. They brought teachers from far regions, doctors, physicians but nothing helped. Finally they realized their mistake. King and queen decided to perform the Yaaga and decided to pray to God. God finally appeared in front of them. They apologised for their mistake and prayed to God to give the child a little intelligence. God said that he was helpless; he cannot do anything since the decision is taken and destiny of the kid was written long back. It will be against the law of nature if he changes it. King and Queen started pleading and finally God decided to help them.

He said that he is not a position to help them as far as the kid is concerned but he asked them to find a prince for her who is smart, intelligent and at any point of time she can rely on him to take decision. He also said that they were lucky because he moulded a prince with extreme brilliance and smartness. King and queen were eager to know about his name and the God said his name is

“Dhanesh” (Comon Guys don’t ask who this guy is ;-) )

My wife burst into laughter hearing the story. (I know, not very funny but she doesn’t have an option you know). I was happy that I could bring her out of pain for at least a moment.
